GENDERED MYTHS OF CONFLICT & <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

UN-BELONGING FROM A COMPARATIVE LITERATURE PERSPECTIVE <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(<\/b><\/span><\/span>Under Project UPE-II, Centre of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Latin American Studies, JNU<\/b><\/span><\/span>) <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On 2<\/b><\/span><\/span>ND<\/b><\/span><\/sup><\/span> and 3<\/b><\/span><\/span>RD<\/b><\/span><\/sup><\/span> AUGUST, 2016.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The research questions which this conference sets out to explore are the ways that some gendered myths of conflict and un-belonging conjugate against patriarchal tropes, social hierarchies and misogyny. A Comparative Literature perspective widens the scope of such study to include multi-layered and rhizomic intersections of different kinds of gender related violence to un-weave predictable epistemologies. This new and rough weaving, criss-crosses across fixed paradigms of institutionalized gender designs on one hand and deconstructs and problematizes said fixed paradigms on the other. It texts thus the in-between spaces of gender dynamics of today\u2019s hyper-modernity and neo-liberalisms rendering exposed heterotopic spaces of patriarchal controls and violence. The conference purports to address issues of power relations of this arrangement through textualities of literature, art, film, visual culture and social media as they expose the politics of these relationships and how they work to perpetuate\/deconstruct the patriarchal hegemony intrinsically linked to colonialism, post-colonialism and neo-liberalism. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Papers are invited from young scholars on narratives by\/on women in literature, photography, documentary, feature films or any other printed or visual culture. Some suggested themes are the following. However this is not an exhaustive list and may include other related themes as well.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    Marginalised identities such as Women, Dalit, Ethnic etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Narratives of rape, caste and ethnic cleansing.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Battles of sexuality and queerness. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Teaching, Translation and Transduction of Ungrammatical Genders.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Prison memoirs, Testimonials, Biographies and Autobiographies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Immigration, Terrorism and Intolerance.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    Violence in new domestic spaces, boundaries and citizenships.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  8. \n

    Human rights, humanitarian aid and other organizational counter-narratives.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  9. \n

    Cultural exclusion\/markedness in the \u2018new home\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  10. \n

    <\/a>Social media and counter-narratives to conflict.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  11. \n

    We will acknowledge receipt of all paper proposals submitted. If you do not receive a reply from us in a week you should assume that we did not receive your proposal. In such cases kindly resend your proposal. <\/span><\/span>Selection of papers for presentation will be done on the basis of blind review by members of the Scientific Committee of the conference. <\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The working language of the conference will be English. <\/b><\/span><\/span>Details regarding registration will be communicated at a later stage when we bring out the second circular. Given our limited budget, we will not be able to pay for any travel nor any hotel accommodation. You are requested to apply for such expenses from your parent institution. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
