Asteria, Association of Myth Criticism, is a non-profit cultural entity based in the Philology Campus of the Complutense University of Madrid and whose goal is to promote, encourage, and support Myth Criticism-related studies.<\/p>\n

THE EXHIBITION<\/span><\/p>\n

Several pieces inspired by mythology were displayed during the V Asteria Contest of Mythology and Artistic Creation.The exhibition took place from 27th September to 13th October in the El Silo de Hortaleza\u2019s exhibition room, which could be visited from 10AM to 2PM and from 5PM to 9PM.<\/p>\n

CONTEST RULES<\/span><\/p>\n

The V Asteria Contest of Mythology and Artistic Creation followed the following rules:
PIECES\u2019 CHARACTERISTICS<\/span>
The pieces had to be original and be done on definite material. In the case of photographs and engravings the serial number or copy had to be explicitly indicated.
The pieces couldn\u2019t exceed 50 cm in any of their dimensions. The style and technique were based on the artists\u2019 preferences.
From among all the different pieces received in the various disciplines (painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, illustration, engraving, video art, etc.) 40 of them were selected to be displayed.
REQUIREMENTS AND PRESENTATION PERIOD
Contestants had to send, before 17th September, the inscription form, duly completed, and a picture of their piece in high resolution (so the selection could be done) to the following email:
arteco@ucm.es
The chosen pieces were personally handed over on 25th September 2023 in the exhibition room of El Silo de Hortaleza; calle del Mar de las Antillas 14, Madrid from 10AM to 2PM and from 5PM to 9PM.
Once the exhibition was over, the displayed and non-awarded pieces were retired on 14th October during the same timeframe.
SELECTION AND AWARDS<\/span>
Once the period for receiving the documents had passed, the Judges met up (composed by Mrs. Elena Blanch Gonz\u00e1lez, Mr. Pedro Terr\u00f3n Manrique, and Mr. Juan Francisco P\u00e9rez-Rosas Hidalgo) in order to choose the pieces that would comprise the collective exhibition and to formulate their proposal for the award.
The first prize was \u20ac300.
Three secondary awards were granted.
The Judges\u2019 decision was made public on 27th September 2023 at 7PM during the exhibit\u2019s inauguration.
The winning piece and the right to freely reproduce it became propriety of Asteria, Association of Myth Criticism.
Moreover, a catalogue of the announcement will be edited alongside ISBN, where the winning piece, the secondary awards, and the selected pieces for the exhibition will appear.<\/p>\n
