From 26 to 30 October 2026, at the Complutense University of Madrid, we will hold the 9th International Conference on Myth Criticism, with the aim of reflecting on the relationship between myth and woman, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. This Conference intends to address the connections between myth and women throughout the centuries; with significant focus on the present day, not only from a theoretical framework, but also a practical one. We aim to comprehend the key role of women inside the mythological universe, because without them it would not exist.

The deadline for submitting proposals through the form available on the conference website is 15 May 2026. Presentations may be delivered in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Catalan. The format will be hybrid—both online and in person. A selection of papers will later be published in Amaltea. Journal of Myth Criticism, nos. 19 (2027), 20 (2028), and 21 (2029). We are also in contact with two internationally renowned publishers for the publication of a selected set of articles.

The registration fee for Speakers include daily refreshments, a social get-together and welcome gifts among other benefits. Members of Asteria. International Association of Myth Criticism will have a discount of the 50% of the entry fee. We are also offering grants for students and unemployed researchers.

Aiming to help in the preparation of the papers, we propose the following research topics:

I. Foundation, creation and transgression

II. Wisdom, mediation and revelation

III. Power, desire and violence

IV. Suffering, punishment and rendition

V. Transformations, boundaries and hybridization
